Hello fellow advanced monkeys,
As people may or may not be aware here, the current admin, Selachimorpha, has been absent or very rarely active in the last months, and the Shantae Wiki is on the verge of becoming unruly, with some trolls spamming the comments with useless or aggressive content toward other users, and, only occasionally so far but that may become more common in the future, adding useless contents in pages.
I believe a Wiki, no matter which, needs a more permanent monitoring. That's why I'll postulate to adopt the Shantae Wiki at Community Central tomorrow, as per the "being active for 7 days" rule. I don't quite expect any opposition at this point, but it's just to let you users know, as this is your Wiki as well.

I only signed in last week to support the Red Ash anime and game, but I did take the time to send some messages to developers to ask about stuff such as Half Hero Genie. WayForward just sent a reply about the current ETA of the game being the end of this year, and they're hoping a good enough success would give the time to make DLCs or sequels based on the goals they didn't reach. That gives some hope, right?

WayForward just announced that people who pledged for the "Your Art in Game" tier during the Half-Genie Hero Kickstarter campaign can now send theirs! Deadline will be March 2nd, 2015! Your art will be featured in one of the ten galleries of the Sequin Land Art Museum! Ten galleries with ten paintings each, which keys players will have to find in-game, with a special bonus when the ten of them are recovered.

OK, we all knew it would come someday, and there it is: PayPal funding for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is closing on December 16th, 2014. Here's the current state of funding:
It looks like the four remaining stretch goals would require some huge push to get funded. Someone wins at the lottery or at Euromillions, for instance. But, hey, never lose hope until it's closed.
On the positive side of things, WayForward announced that contributors who financed some artist tiers (Your Face in Game, Enemy Designers, Your Art in Game) would soon be called to submit their work. The "Your Art in Game" will be first. Besides, some more voting will start and updates on the game's development will come more often.

- Risky Boots appears at the beginning of the game seeking an alliance, and eventually reaches a truce with Shantae
- Each of the six new islands have their own labyrinth and boss

WayForward brings us the news with an added bonus: a presentation trailer of Rottytops which includes some new scenes with Shantae and Abner Cadaver, as well as a strange new human character who looks... Well, watch the trailer and you'll see ;)

Matt Bozon interview reveals new details about The Pirate's Curse

Matt Bozon, Shantae's daddy here in the real world, just published an interview for Siliconera. Any great reveal? A release date for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse maybe? Sadly, no. But he does mention new details about the upcoming episode. A quick summary here:
- As expected, Shantae will acquire new abilities, which sometimes will have to be combined in order to make progress.
- The graphic motor will feature stereoscopic 3D for the first time in a Shantae game. It was conceived with the idea that 3D backgrounds will look better than if you keep the Nintendo 3DS in 2D.
- The game will feature Metroid-style maps.
- The game's world will be divided into different islands. Shantae travels to the different islands…

Hero Modes update!

Today, WayForward just posted the update on the Kickstarter page for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero to confirm our success in reaching the $900K stretch goal! It comes with bits of artworks for Sky, Bolo and Rottytops' gameplays, although it looks like they are still in their preliminary stages.
The update also teases the next stretch goal, A Dish Served Cold, featuring Risky's Revenge's boss Nega-Shantae as the returning main villain. They also mention in passing the voice acting stretch goal that lies beyond it, and it sounds like they already have a precise idea of how it would sound... Still expecting a confirmation message from WayForward, but it looks like there was a big boost of the PayPal tonight, and we've reached the $900.000 goal! Hero Modes for Half-Genie Hero ARE a thing!!! If you don't believe me, just glance at the PayPal counter just below!
Thank you everybody for all the efforts you put in this campaign, you're awesome! Now... How about reaching the $1M mark, guys? Still not much going on around here, heh? Still no release date for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse...
So why the piece of news? Well, I've noticed several times people mentioning that Half-Genie Hero might be too far into development to allow for the inclusion of new stretch goals, even if the PayPal campaign reached them. WayForward just discarded this concern: in a Tweet yesterday, they confirmed they have taken into account the progress toward the next stretch goal (which is, as of now, less than $8,500 away)! Tracker used to create the original Shantae's music released to the public

Here's a more unusual piece of news for a change: Stephane Hockenhull, the guy who devised the Paragon 5 Game Boy Tracker (or Beyond Tracker), which is the program that was used by Jake Kaufman to create the music to the first Shantae game, has just made the complete program and its replay routines available to the public.

Dancer costume in Risky's Revenge turned into full standalone mode in Director's Cut edition

The first revelation about the Steam Director's Cut of Shantae: Risky's Revenge has been revealed: the Dancer costume available in the iOS version has been turned into its own unlockable standalone mode, the "Magic Mode"! Not much of an innovation so far, but it will still show its own dialogue portraits, something that was missing from the previous version. Also the Dancer costume got a little redesign.

Cristina Vee to voice Shantae in upcoming games!

Now, that's a piece of news some of you have been eagerly waiting for: Cristina Vee is going to succeed to Meagan Glaser as Shantae's voice actor for The Pirate's Curse and Half-Genie Hero! Of course, so far, that consists basically in rerecording all those moans, grunts, cries and such that Meagan provided for Risky's Revenge.
But honestly, I don't see what would stop her from doing all the voice-over if we were to ever reach the $1.1M stretch goal for voice acting in HGH! She already did voice acting in the past, so why not? It looks like a mountain to climb, but hey, we have to believe and keep on fighting to make this happen!

Well, I must say I'm impressed, with such a late announcement, the PayPal Pledge Day did bring in around $600, which is a pretty good result! It's great to see you guys so mobilized. And to pump up the moral of the troops, do know that the amount you see in the PayPal table is not even complete, because the amount of cash you add through the BackerKit is not factorized in it! According to WayForward, they made around $4,000 through the BackerKit, so we are actually at more or less $873,000 at the moment! Pirate's Curse to be biggest Shantae game to date!
According to a Go Nintendo interview with Matt Bozon, is set to be even larger than the original Shantae.
The whole interview is interesting and worth a read, but for me this was the big takeaway point. My favorite thing about the first game is how large it feels, close to RPG in the sense of epicness (epicality? epicity? spellcheck says there is no real word for this) it conveys. I'm pretty jazzed to play this game.

OK, now that's indeed some big news about ! The new tale about our dear half-genie is no longer a 3DS-exclusive as it's also coming to Wii U! Who said there were not enough great games on this console to buy it?

The Pirate's Curse at the E3!

We've got a piece of news from WayForward regarding Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. It looks like some big announcement regarding the game is to be expected during the E3! Yes, that's not much so far, but it's still good to hear a little from the game. As a reminder, the E3 will take place from June 10 to June 12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Some of you who gave money just like me on the last PayPal pledge day (see here if you have no idea what I'm talking about) or in the days before that may have noticed that the PayPal counter doesn't seem to move much. Don't worry, the donations are still open, it's just that this counter is sometimes busted. It happened already in February, and WayForward had to work on it several times to make it function normally again. It appears that the counter is jammed once again: I have mailed them once already and it was unlocked, but the law of the series seems to once again prevail. A new idea for a Shantae Crossover
Hey guys, Pileofdoodoo here, if you're wondering why a Shantae crossover should be made becuase 4 days ago this month, a user who suggested a crossover for this is amazing and got me to my hyperness. I suggest that Jet Set Radio is a very interesting idea because seeing Shantae on rollerskates and doing grafitti should be sexy. Leave you thoughts in the comments below. P.S.
