Lava Town
Each year the maidens of the village gather at this very spot to join in the ceremony of cleansing! We stand before the STATUE of the Ancient One and pledge to keep our bodies and minds pure from all fleshy desires. Then we usually have a feast and pig out.
Shantae’s adventure leads her to the third town she visits Lava Town, a scorched settlement where the inhabitants worship a towering statue of the Goddess of Cleansing. Due to one of Risky Boots’ geological schemes, Lava Town and Museum Town have mysteriously swapped locations—leaving Lava Town buried in a frozen tundra, while Museum Town now sits atop a fiery landscape.
The village leader pleads with Shantae to restore balance by retrieving the goddess statue and returning it to its rightful place. Upon completing the task, a ritual begins: the maidens of Lava Town bathe in sacred waters and shed their flesh, revealing their Skeletal forms.
Unbeknownst to Shantae, the townsfolk are actually Flesh-Stealer Skeletons—ancient beings who consume the flesh of outsiders under the guise of spiritual cleansing.
🦴 Trivia[]
- The inhabitants of Lava Town are secretly skeletons who feast on the flesh of visitors, using ritual as a lure.
- On Shantae’s third visit, the skeletons lose all semblance of consciousness. They will no longer speak to shantae and instead attempting to claim her as their next victim.
- It is unknown if Professor Pepperpex is also a victim, but given with the complication storyline of his death, there is a small chance his death may came during his escape and suddenly fall victim into the sea while the tremors were active.
